(800) 560-6066The classic 1964 movie, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer has become Zyris’s favorite Christmas movie. It has been telecast every year since 1964, making it the longest continuously running Christmas TV special.
While the movie focuses on Rudolph, we fell in love with Hermey the Elf. Unlike other elves, he does not enjoy making toys but desires to pursue a career in dentistry. He is teased by other elves because of this, much like how Rudolph is teased for having a glowing red nose. Hermey dreams of becoming a dentist and opening a dental practice.
Here are 4 reasons why we love Hermey the Elf, DDS.
#1– Hermey is passionate about being a dentist. That’s actually an understatement. While every other elf is singing carols and making toys, Hermey is laser-focused on becoming a dentist. I mean, he even practices on dolls–you got to love that passion.
#2–Hermey is devoted to helping others. Hermey helps misfit toys, battles bumbles, and sticks by his bestie Rudolph. But more than that, Hermey is devoted to seeing that everyone has great dental health. He even makes a dental appointment with the Boss Elf who gave him a lot of grief about wanting to be a dentist.
#3–Hermey keeps up to date on the latest dental knowledge. It is like pulling teeth to get Hermey to build a toy car, or make a dollie. He is just not into it. As the other elves are building toys, Hermey is studying and keeping current on his Continuing Education. When the other elves ask him what he has been doing if not building toys. He tells them, “I’ve been studying. It’s fascinating. You have no idea.” >
#4–Hermey saves the day. Ok, we all know that Rudolph’s shiny nose saves Christmas, and Yukon Cornelius battles the bumble over the cliff. But, it is Hermey that performs life-saving dental surgery on the abominable snowman that totally saves the day.
