Let your Dental Hygienists shine!
If your hygiene crew is open to it, highlighting them on social media – and showing how much you appreciate them – can be an easy and enjoyable way to make them feel valued.
Turn your waiting room into a photobooth.
Set up some hygiene-related photo props and backdrops, and invite patients to snap pics with you and your team. If they’re up for being featured on your social channels, this is an easy way to show the world how fun your practice culture is…and you might just help patients relax before their appointment.
Gamify hygiene!
Who doesn’t love a good competition? Whether it’s on social media or in the waiting room, incentivize patients to showcase their hygiene IQ. Prizes could be a toothbrush, a balloon animal, toy, or something else. Here are some ideas to engage your patients:
- Trivia quizzes
- Guessing games, e.g., how long is a piece of dental floss?
- Voting contests, e.g., funniest pet smiles
- Online scavenger hunts
Host a candy trade-in.
Halloween – of all holidays – marks the end of National Dental Hygiene Month. Some dental offices have had luck trading excess treats for coupons (for toothbrushes, floss, $50 off whitening). And others donate candy to sweeten someone’s day at soup kitchens, senior centers, shelters, or to soldiers abroad . Everyone wins!
Connect with other hygienists:
Whether you’re already active in a hygienist community, or are looking to engage with one, National Dental Hygiene Month is the perfect time to network with groups like the ADHA and other local groups. Look into events, and build relationships with fellow hygienists.
